His First Sweater!
When you know a grandson is on the way, you just naturally think about knitting for him! The yarn was the inspiration for this project – I bought it at the Gove City Yarns shop on the way to a conference in Denver the first week in October. When I saw this soft machine washable yarn in shades of blue, I knew it would be perfect for his first sweater! In November, we measured some clothes that fit him and I started writing a pattern. I knew I wanted to use this great knitted-in teddy bear from a Threads article (I’ll look up issue & article information soon!), and decided to put the opening at the left raglan decrease line instead of the top of the shoulder. Don’t you think he looks great in it?

And here’s a little closer view of the teddy design:

At his rate of growth (4 3/4 inches in 2 months!!!) he won’t be wearing it long, but that’s fine with me! Next up is a little cabled cardigan…
What a beautiful sweater, with an even more beautiful model!
