Knitting in classic films
My new favorite film clip – I haven’t seen the whole film yet, but would love to! – is from the 1943 RKO movie “Mr. Lucky”. Cary Grant stars as “A gambler [who] has plans to swindle money from a charity program, but starts to have second thoughts when he falls for a rich society girl.” (imdb)
The knitting part comes when, captivated by the young woman who is working with a ‘knitting for the war effort’ group, he is pressured into learning to knit – in a shop window, no less! And he’s not the only one…
